BECOME A MEMBER

Chinese Museum Membership

The purpose of the Chinese Museum is to preserve and present Chinese culture and Australian history in order to recognise and celebrate the identity of Chinese Australians. When becoming a member of the organisation you are supporting this purpose. You may play an active role by attending events, volunteering in museological activities, or by determining the governance of the organisation by attending and voting at the Annual General Meeting.  

Alternatively you may simply wish to make a financial contribution towards the Museum’s goal and enjoy the membership’s benefits as follows:

Membership benefits
• Free entry for duration of membership
• Invitations to exhibition openings
• Invitations to special members’ events and functions
• Discounts to ticketed events at the Museum (i.e. classes, workshops and seminars)
• 10% discount at the Chinese Museum shop
• Receive Museum’s quarterly e-newsletter
• Use of the Research Library (by appointment only)

To become a Chinese Museum Member please complete the membership application form and email the form to [email protected]

We advise, that as of 1st February 2023, we will be increasing the price of Membership.  

This is due to persistent increases in our operating costs over the past several years.

We thank you for your understanding and look forward to continuing to provide you with a wonderful visitor experience!

    The Chinese Museum has multiple galleries / space for hire, suitable for exhibitions, parties, dinners, talks and many other functions. All proceeds from venue hires go towards furthering our mission of communicating the Chinese-Australian story and promoting multiculturalism

    OUR ORGANISATION

    The Chinese Museum’s building, located in the heart of Chinatown, was built by the Cohen Bros. in 1890 and used originally as a furniture warehouse. It was acquired in 1984 by the Victorian State Government to enable the establishment of a Museum to provide the heritage and cultural foundation for Melbourne’s Chinatown.
