On 30th August 2024, the Museum of Chinese Australian History in partnership with EWC Australia Community Engagement Inc. held the EWC Spring Gala Dinner 2024, a night of community celebration and fundraising at Rydges Melbourne in Chinatown, Melbourne.

The EWC Spring Gala Dinner hosted the 2024 Chinese Australian Achiever Awards, a Chinese Museum initiative that aims to recognise and celebrate exceptional achievement of Chinese Australians, in the context of more than 200 years of Chinese Australian stories.

The Chinese Museum and EWC honoured 8 exceptional Chinese Australians on the evening, in recognition of their individual achievements and their contributions to Australian society. The recipients were:

1. Irene Moss AO, former Race Discrimination Commissioner, who led landmark changes to Australian race discrimination regulations.

2. Chris Pang, widely known for his role in Crazy Rich Asians.
 
3. Gary Li, Founder of AIDE Education Group and leading education consultant.
 
4. Cr H.Y. William Chan, the youngest elected city councillor in Sydney's 180-year history, and an innovative sustainability architect.

5. Viceta Wang, a dynamic fashion designer carrying her namesake label Viceta Wang.

6. Hank Ebes, renowned collector of art and antiques and generous donor to the Chinese Museum.

7. Sarah Liu, founder of TDC Global and idea leader in the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion space.

8. Elizabeth Chong AM, famous Chinese Australian celebrity chef and food ambassador.


The Chinese Museum and EWC were thrilled to have the presence and support of key government representatives.
