Born in Deshan, Guangdong, Tyon Gee moved to Sydney in 1939 with her husband, William, and their two children. Among her most treasured belongings was a carefully chosen collection of Chinese clothing which served as a lasting connection to her home and heritage.

Through Tyon Gee’s personal journey and the intricate craftsmanship of these garments, we share the story of Chinese immigrants in Australia during the 1930s. The collection highlights the blend of tradition and adaptation in a new land, shaping both identity and the preservation of cultural roots.
